Cumilla, Dec 26, 2025 (BSS) - BNP and affiliated bodies here in the Cumilla-6 (Sadar) constituency today held a meeting thanking party Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman for returning home after years of political persecution by the fallen fascist regime and a doa mahfil for Begum Khaleda Zia's speedy recovery.
BNP Chairperson's Adviser and former Member of Parliament Haji Amin-ur-Rashid Yasin attended the event as the chief guest.
Haji Amin-ur-Rashid Yasin said, "Dear leader Tarique Rahman, if any harm comes to the party, you will feel even more pain than we do. Save the BNP in Cumilla. The people of Cumilla are ready. Contest the election from the Cumilla-6 constituency. Just submit your nomination papers -- we will ensure your victory by a margin of hundreds of thousands of votes."
He further said, "I do politics for the soil and the people of Cumilla. Politics is neither my profession nor a means of earning money. Upholding the ideals of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, my goal is to build a beautiful, happy and prosperous Cumilla."
The meeting was chaired by former Sadar South Upazila BNP President S A Bari Selim. Among others, Adarsha Sadar Upazila BNP President Rezaul Qayyum, former joint convener of Cumilla Metropolitan BNP Ataur Rahman Chhuti, Shahidullah Ratan, Mahbubur Rahman Dulal, and Adarsha Sadar Upazila BNP General Secretary Shafiul Alam Raihan, addressed the meeting.
