DHAKA, March 6, 2025 (BSS) - Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman returned home today wrapping-up his four-day visit to the Central African Republic.
 
During the visit, the Army Chief was briefed about the various activities of the Bangladeshi contingents and Bangladeshi peacekeepers deployed in the United Nations peacekeeping mission in the Central African Republic, said an ISPR press release here today.


 
He met with the Special Representative of the Secretary General (SRSG) Valentine Rugwabiza and Force Commander Lt Gen Humphrey Nyone. During the visit, he held important discussions on various issues of Bangladeshi peacekeepers in UN peacekeeping.
 
The Army Chief participated in a bilateral meeting with General Mamadou Zephirin, Chief of the Central African Republic Armed Forces (FACA).
 
During the meeting, General Waker discussed bilateral relations and mutual cooperation between the armies of the two countries.
 
Later, the president of the Central African Republic and the army chief inaugurated the Touadéra Community Clinic built in the Central African Republic by the Bangladesh Army as a part of the peacekeeping mission to assist civilians.
 
The Army Chief also held a bilateral meeting with the President of the Central African Republic, Faustin-Archange Touadéra.
 
In recognition of his significant contribution to the overall development of the people of the Central African Republic, especially in the field of medicine, President of the Central African Republic conferred the honorary presidential title on the Bangladesh Army Chief.
 
The Army Chief also visited the contingents of the Bangladesh Army deployed in the Bangui area of the Central African Republic, the release added.
